The Chicago Bears won't have Jay Cutler back on the field when they meet the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13.
Bears coach Marc Trestman told reporters Monday that the quarterback remains "week to week" with a high ankle sprain. Trestman shot down speculation that Cutler's injury is more involved, saying "there's no underlying information here."
"I'm totally confident that he will play again this season," Trestman said.
Trestman paints a more simplified picture than the one Cutler provided. The quarterback told a local radio station last week he's a "little worried" about "a couple of ligaments" in his ankle.
"There are a few other things involved," Cutler said last Monday. "If I just had a normal high ankle sprain, I wouldn't be in a cast. (A cast) helps it scar up and stuff, but the normal high ankle sprain isn't really a concern at this point."
Josh McCown will make his fourth start in five games in Week 13. The 6-5 Bears have won two of McCown's three starts.
UPDATE:Cutler said Monday on "The Jay Cutler Show" on WMVP-AM that "the goal" is to play against the Cowboys in Week 14, and that he would be "pretty disappointed" if he missed the Monday night contest. He also revealed that the cast is off.
