The Tampa Bay Buccaneersmade official what we knew from the start.
Jeff Tedford will join Lovie Smith in Tampa as the team's offensive coordinator.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the sides finalized a two-year contract Friday, according to a source informed of the deal.
Smith, announced Thursday as the Bucs' coach, targeted Tedford for his offensive coordinator early in the process, Rapoport reported.
The biggest criticism of Smith during his nine-year stint with the Chicago Bears was his handling of the offensive side of the ball.
Tedford is Smith's answer to those questions.
The quarterback guru spent 11 years coaching the University of California, resurrecting a wayward program. Tedford has sent multiple quarterbacks to the NFL throughout his coaching career, including current Green Bay Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers.
The hiring could be good news for the progress of rookie quarterback Mike Glennon.
Rapoport also reported that the Bucs are expected to announce the hiring of Leslie Frazier as their defensive coordinator.
