For anyone who's hoping to keep the wheeling and dealing going at the top of the 2016 NFL Draft, be advised: The Dallas Cowboys are probably not going to get into the trading game.
Team owner Jerry Jones said Monday that the club is most likely going to keep the draft's No. 4 overall pick, per the Dallas Morning News' Jon Machota.
The first two picks of the draft are all but spoken for -- quarterbacks Jared Goff and Carson Wentz are expected to be chosen by the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles, who traded into the top two slots. So, early first-round suspense has turned to the Chargers at No. 3, followed by Dallas. The Cowboys are in need of a young quarterback to develop behind Tony Romo, but Jones said last month that the No. 4 pick won't be the time to get one.
Ohio State's Joey Bosa is a more likely possibility, and NFL Media draft expert Mike Mayock said Friday that the Cowboysmight have little alternative choice given the suspensions of Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory. NFL Media analysts have also projected FSU DB Jalen Ramsey and Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott to Dallas with the No. 4 pick.
