Dez Bryant insists he's not worried about not receiving targets from Dak Prescott.
The Dallas Cowboys' receiver was targeted four times and had one catch for 19 yards. Bryant missed three games due to injury, and his production has been up and down in five games played. Three times this season the star receiver failed to surpass 40 yards receiving.
Even when Bryant is blanketed, the Cowboys continue to move the ball. Owner Jerry Jones credits Bryant's presence on the field for opening up other receivers, saying pass-catchers are "as wide open as we've seen them" during his tenure.
"Dez has everything to do with that," Jones said Tuesday on KRLD-FM, via the Dallas Morning News. "They got to cover Dez Bryant. And they sometimes have to double cover him, and when he does, that's going to definitely create opportunity and thank God we got that quarterback that can see it.
"So, Dez is very meaningful. As far as what I look at is how he's getting through the games and he's going to be health wise advanced this coming week from where he was this last week. And, so, I just want him healthy. He'll make his plays."
The attention paid to Bryant certainly opens up the rest of the offense. On Cole Beasley's touchdown versus Browns on Sunday, Bryant drew three defenders, leaving the slot receiver wide open.
Bryant has struggled for stretches this season, even when targeted. Dez is responsible for a passer rating of 79.5 when targeted this season, which ranks 70th out of the 91 players with 40-plus targets this season. All other Cowboys receivers have provided a 109.7 passer rating when targeted this season.
