Jets' Geno Smith, Michael Vick underwhelm vs. Bengals

Geno Smith and Michael Vick both underwhelmed in the New York Jets' 25-17 preseason victory over the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday night.

Smith's six first-half series resulted in two punts, an interception, a field goal and two rushing touchdowns.

He finished 10 of 13 for 98 yards, but didn't move the offense until the Bengals took their first-team defense off the field. At that point, the Jets' rushing attack kicked into gear, producing a pair of scoring drives to close out the first half.

Vick's three second-half series resulted in a pair of punts and a touchdown pass in which Clyde Gates did the brunt of the work on a 17-yard wide receiver screen.

The veteran finished a pedestrian 5 of 9 for 70 yards against a bevy of players that won't even make Cincinnati's roster.

Neither quarterback did more than dink and dunk while relying on the ground game to carry the load.

The Jets have made it clear that this is Smith's job to lose. Through two preseason games, he remains in the driver's seat.
