Apparently the top quarterbacks available in the 2014 NFL Draft aren't the only objects of the New York Jets' affection this year.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that the Jets are looking to trade up and are targeting a move into the top 10. He also reported that they are "very hot" on former LSU WR Odell Beckham.
Now, it's possible that Beckham, the No. 3 wide receiver in NFL Media draft analyst Mike Mayock's rankings, will still be available to the Jets if they stay at the pick they currently hold (No. 18 overall), but Rapoport's report suggests Beckham's stock is rising a bit with a couple days to go before the draft -- the receiver has most frequently been projected to go around the middle of the first round, close to the Jets' pick at No. 18, but if he's the guy the club wants, why leave it to chance?
The Steelers, who attended Beckham's pro day and dined with him the day before his workout, are a conceivable landing spot for him at No. 15.
Moving into the top 10 could give the Jets a shot at the consensus No. 2 wide receiver, Texas A&M's Mike Evans, if they like him even more than Beckham. They would almost certainly have to trade into the top five for a chance at the draft's top wide receiver, Clemson's Sammy Watkins.
Or maybe they'll go for broke to land Johnny Manziel in the top 10, and then we can all watch Jets fans' heads spin at Radio City Music Hall.
