New York Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff said last week that the kicker battle between veteran Josh Brown and incumbent Nick Folk was one of the best he had ever been around.
It appears that Folk will be declared the winner.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News confirmed Brown was informed of his release. It wouldn't be a surprise if Brown wound up getting a job elsewhere. (Or if he returned to New York if Folk struggled during the preseason.)
