Jim Harbaugh: 49ers are 'assessing' Eric Wright

Eric Wright remains on the radar of the San Francisco 49ers.

Jim Harbaugh said Sunday that the Niners are "assessing" Wright, who was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month after a failed physical nullified a trade to San Francisco.

The Niners had agreed to send a late-round draft pick to the Bucs for Wright, so we know the team sees value in the cornerback. Circumstances also have changed for the 49ers after Chris Culliver suffered an ACL tear in practice last week. He is done for the year.

Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reported Sunday that Tramaine Brock has "filled in well" for Culliver since taking over his role as the team's No. 3 corner. Other reserve options for the Niners include Nnamdi Asomugha and Perrish Cox. The team's starters are Tarell Brown and Carlos Rogers.

Wright has a court date scheduled Wednesday in connection with a recent drunk driving arrest in Los Angeles. He is not required to attend the hearing. Harbaugh reportedly said the Niners are comfortable with the ongoing legal issue.
