Joe Lefeged cut by Indianapolis Colts after legal trouble

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts waived safety Joe Lefeged on Thursday.

Lefeged appeared in 36 games, made five starts and had 56 tackles since making the team as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He was also one of Indy's top special teams players.

But this summer, Lefeged ran into legal trouble. He was arrested during a traffic stop in Washington after police said they found a semi-automatic pistol in the car in which he was riding. Police say they also smelled what appeared to be marijuana and found an open bottle containing vodka and orange juice in the car's center console.

Lefeged and another passenger were taken into custody after they tried to run from officers. Lefeged was charged with carrying a licensed pistol outside the home, a felony.
