Jon Beason could very well be done for the season.
The New York Giants linebacker, who helped key a mammoth defensive turnaround back in 2013, is currently in Charlotte, North Carolina, visiting the team's foot specialist. There's a good chance he is advised to shut it down and play for 2015.
"Right now, I'd say it's 50-50," Beason said on WFAN-AM on Tuesday. "I'm still deciding if the smart thing is to go ahead and get it fixed and get ready for next season."
Before being signed to a three-year deal worth $16.8 million ($6.03 million in guarantees), Beason had ruptured an Achilles and underwent Microfracture surgery on his knee, both of which cost him significant time. This year, it is a recurring fracture in his foot. Beason opted not to have surgery when the initial injury occurred in June and aggravated the issue earlier this season, causing him to miss more time.
Though his ability to endure pain is second to none, it might be hard for the team to envision a fully-healthy Beason leading their defense again. They might have to settle with a player who will always be fighting through something.
