The Miami Dolphins are one of six teams who will be conducting organized team activities this week, with the four sessions scheduled for Monday through Thursday. Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel noted Sunday that the Dolphinswill have a few additional bodies on hand, as three rookies from schools that operate on the "quarter" system will be allowed to join the team for the first time since the rookie minicamp.
The biggest name of the group is second-round pick Jonathan Martin, who is expected to open the season as the Dolphins' starting right tackle. Martin has already signed his four-year, $4.78 million contract, but could not join his new teammates until finals wrapped up at Stanford. While missing work has certainly hurt Martin, the Dolphins' offseason schedule limited the number of workouts he would have missed anyway. Thus far, the club has only run six of its 10 allotted OTA practices.
Also joining the workouts is linebacker and fifth-round pick Josh Kaddu, who has already signed his four-year, $2.286 million rookie deal. Former Portland State offensive tackle Dustin Waldron, one of five undrafted rookie free-agent offensive linemen the Dolphins signed this offseason, is also able to attend. Kelly reported on Monday morning that Waldron did not appear to be on the field during the voluntary workout.
The Dolphins conclude their offseason program with a mandatory three-day minicamp next week.
