Jonathan Stewart inactive for Panthers against Giants

Jonathan Stewart will be a no-show for Thursday night's game against the New York Giants, NFL Network's Stacey Dales reports. The Carolina Panthers running back will be inactive with a toe injury that's plagued him all week.

Rivera said Stewart tested the toe Thursday morning, but "it didn't feel right." Fullback Mike Tolbert will see increased carries.

The Panthers are at their most dangerous when Stewart and DeAngelo Williams are pounding away at defenses, but quarterback Cam Newton's abilities on the ground make this one of the NFL's most versatile attacks. Against a Giants team facing injuries of their own on offense, the Panthers will find a way to get yardage against Big Blue without Stewart.

Also inactive for the Panthers are linebacker Thomas Davis, right tackle Byron Bell, quarterback Jimmy Clausen, safety Colin Jones, guard Mike Pollak and defensive tackle Sione Fua.

The Giants' inactives are running back Ahmad Bradshaw, offensive tackle David Diehl, wide receiver Domenik Hixon, defensive end Adewale Ojomo, wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, cornerback Michael Coe and tight end Adrien Robinson.
