Josh Gordon's potential ban causes WR chaos

It might be May, but a lot of fantasy football championship aspirations have taken a massive hit.

According to reports, superstar wide receiver Josh Gordon has failed a drug test and could be suspended for the entire 2014 campaign. It is his second failed test ... he missed the first two games of last season as punishment for his first offense. This shocking news leaves fantasy owners in keeper leagues in a bind, while re-drafters now have to deal with a decrease in talent at the wide receiver spot.

Gordon broke out in the stat sheets last season, posting 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns despite playing in just 14 games. Those totals were good enough to lead his position in fantasy points and made him a surefire second-round selection in all 2014 re-drafts. With this disappointing news, however, Gordon's value is in a state of limbo ... to say the least. His potential absence would also hurt the value of the eventual No. 1 quarterback, Johnny Manziel or Brian Hoyer.

The Browns are now forced to look for a wide receiver in the NFL draft, as Greg Little, Nate Burleson, Andrew Hawkins and Travis Benjamin are their current top options at wideout. None of those players will excite fantasy owners when it comes time to select their teams.

With Gordon and Justin Blackmon both facing indefinite suspensions, the wide receiver position has now lost two potential top-10 players at the position. That makes it even more important to target the position in the first five rounds.
