The New England Patriots will be without their leading receiver for Sunday's game versus the New York Jets.
Julian Edelmanwill miss the game with concussion and thigh injuries, the team announced. Edelman did not even travel with the team to New Jersey, per Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
One of the NFL's premier punt returners as well as Tom Brady's security blanket as a possession receiver, Edelman has caught 92 passes for 972 yards and four touchdowns this season.
In addition to Edelman, running back LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) and cornerback Kyle Arrington (hamstring) were also downgraded to out. Wide receiver Brandon LaFell (shoulder) and running back Shane Vereen (ankle) were listed as questionable this week. The status of those two players won't be revealed until Sunday morning.
With Edelman sidelined, expect Danny Amendola to pick up snaps as Brady's slot receiver.
