Junior Galette visits Redskins on Thursday

Junior Galette might not be out of work for long.

The former New Orleans Saints pass rusher, cut loose five days ago, visited the Washington Redskins on Thursday, according NFL Media's Albert Breer. Galette took a physical and met with team officials, Breer reports. He will stay overnight in Richmond, but no deal is in place at this time.

Galette's tenure in New Orleans turned ugly almost as soon as he signed a massive contract last September. His disastrous offseason started with an arrest for domestic violence in January, although the charges were eventually dropped. He is dealing with a torn rotator cuff in addition to other off-field concerns.

Galette has not handled his release well to put it mildly, which made some wonder if he was radioactive for other teams. But talent finds a home and it was only a matter of time before Galette received another chance. He would give the Redskins another pure pass rusher to pair with Ryan Kerrigan, effectively replacing Brian Orakpo. 2014 second round pick Trent Murphy was expected to battle 2015 second rounder Preston Smith for the starting job across from Kerrigan. Galette would surely jump to the front of that depth chart after averaging 11 sacks, 12.5 QB hits and 42.5 hurries the last two seasons according to ProFootballFocus.

The Redskins should get Galette at a discounted price. He should be thrilled to have milked Saints general manager Mickey Loomis for $18 million over the last 10 months, and surely Galette's market value will be at a low after the last week.
