Kerry Rhodes doesn't deny he and Arizona Cardinals teammate Darnell Dockett argued late in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the New York Jets. But Rhodes wants you to know the incident didn't involve a malicious saliva exchange.
"Yes, we had a disagreement on the field but, no he did NOT spit in my face," Rhodes said in an email released by the team Tuesday. "I'm not going to get into all the details because I think those are things you keep within the team. But Darnell and I talked after the game, we're both moving on and I'll leave it at that."
Drew Rosenhaus, who is Dockett's agent, shed little light in a text to The Arizona Republic on Tuesday: "I don't think (we) will be commenting at this time as it is an internal team matter."
Rhodes and Dockett reportedly argued about letting the Jets score late in the fourth quarter. Rhodes pushed to allow the Jets in the end zone, giving the Cardinals' offense a final chance facing an eight-point deficit. Dockett disagreed.
Since Dockett reportedly did the spitting, we find it somewhat odd that Rhodes is the player denying the incident took place. Of course, not much makes sense in matters involving the Cardinals, who have a four-game winning streak and an eight-losing streak to their credit this season.
