Barnes has played in 31 career NFL games for the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions. He was drafted by the Redskins in the third round in 2009 and played in 15 games. In 2011, he recorded a career-high 26 tackles and two interceptions in 15 games. He was traded to the Lions last year and played in two games before he was waived on Sept. 18.

Also, the Browns hosted free-agent linebacker Victor Butler. The former Dallas Cowboys pass rusher took a physical and met with Browns officials but left without agreeing to a contract. The 25-year-old will reportedly meet with the Philadelphia Eagles later this week. He's already met with the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Butler had three sacks with Cowboys last season.
