Kevin Burnett wasn't out of work for long.
The veteran linebacker was signed by the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, five days after the Miami Dolphins informed him of his release.

Burnett essentially trades places with Philip Wheeler, who agreed to a five-year, $26 million contract with the Dolphins last week.
Burnett, 30, is coming off a season in which he set a career high with 110 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble. A 2005 second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys, Burnett hasn't missed a game since 2009.
This is a potential value signing by the Raiders, who desperately needed to add depth at linebacker. Pro Football Focus graded out Burnett as the NFL's fourth-best 4-3 outside linebacker in 2012.
