This time, the NFL fined New England Patriots cornerback Kyle Arrington $21,000 for striking the Indianapolis Colts' rookie quarterback with a helmet-to-helmet hit in Sunday's game.

That raises the grand total of fines assessed to players for illegally striking Luck to a whopping $97,500, Mike Chappell of The Indianapolis Star reported.

Other fines from around the NFL on Friday:

» As if losing in overtime wasn't painful enough, Cleveland Browns safety T.J. Ward was docked $25,000 for an illegal hit against the Dallas Cowboys. Ward's hit on Cowboys wide receiver Kevin Ogletree was deemed helmet-to-helmet. It also forced Ogletree into Browns cornerback Buster Skrine, and both players left the game with concussions, according to Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer.

» The Jacksonville Jaguars also received a double dose of misfortune. After losing in overtime to the Houston Texans, Dawan Landry was slapped with a $21,000 fine. » New York Jets linebacker Garrett McIntyre was fined $15,750 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford. That's bad news for McIntyre, but the good news was the Jets won the game.

» In yet another overtime thriller, Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis struck a defenseless Tampa Bay Buccaneers player in the head and neck area, drawing a $21,000 fine. To make matters worse for Davis, the penalized play came on the Bucs' final drive in regulation. The penalty turned an 18-yard reception into a 33-yard play, and the Bucs went on to tie the game before winning in overtime. Tampa Bay didn't get off scot-free, however, as guard Ted Larsen was docked $7,875 for striking an opponent late.

» Green Bay Packers linebacker Brad Jones was fined $15,750 for roughing the passer in a victory over the Detroit Lions. Jones was flagged for a 15-yard penalty on the play.
