In a move that was expected, Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller appears to have won the battle to start.
Miller was listed as the first-string back on the Dolphins' latest depth chart, which the team released Monday. Coach Joe Philbin was mum when asked about the starting gig during his Monday afternoon news conference, only saying a depth chart would be released.
We've said from the outset that Miller is a superior talent to backup Daniel Thomas. The coaching staff insisted throughout, however, that it was an open and close competition.
Unfortunately, Miller didn't put his stamp on the job and force his coaches to name him the starter before this week. He seemed to perform in the preseason as if he knew the Dolphins had no choice but to give him the job.
Still, Miller's speed and elusiveness far supersede the rest of the talent on Miami's roster. It's good news for fantasy footballers who nabbed Miller assuming he'd ultimately be the starter.
