The New York Jets had plenty of problems last season, but the secondary wasn't one.
The unit finished second in the league in pass defense, an impressive feat considering they lost all-world cornerback Darrelle Revis way back in Week 3. Antonio Cromartie capably filled Revis' shoes as a No. 1 cover man, while hard-hitting safety LaRon Landry brought an edge to the unit. Both players earned Pro Bowl invites for their efforts.
Ideally, Revis would make a healthy return to anchor arguably the best secondary in the NFL. The reality, however, is that this unit might have a very different look in 2013.

ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini wrote Tuesday that Landry -- a free agent to-be -- is believed to be seeking at least $6 million a year, far out of the price range of the cap-strapped Jets. There's no backup plan either, since Landry had a provision built into his one-year deal that prohibited the Jets from using their franchise tag on him.
Basically, Landry bet on himself last March, believing he could hit big on the open market if he was able to prove he could stay healthy and make plays. The gamble worked, but it likely made his time with the Jets a one-and-done scenario.
