Bill Belichick's Wes Welker replacement plan is coming together nicely. After signing Danny Amendola to take over slot duties, the New England Patriots have agreed to terms with Leon Washington to take over return duties.
Washington posted a picture of himself in a Patriotshat on Instagram with the quote "#Blessed. Lets Go #Pats."
Washington, who was cut by the Seattle Seahawks this week, often crushed the Patriots while he was a member of the New York Jets. He fits the Patriots' profile as a guy who can help in a variety of areas.
Washington adds depth to the backfield and can contribute on third downs while taking over kickoff and punt-return duties. His signing calls into question the future of Jeff Demps, the ex-Florida track star who signed before the 2012 season. Danny Woodhead, who is a free agent, also will find it more difficult to make the team if he winds up re-signing.
