Lions coach Dan Campbell believes RB Jahmyr Gibbs' hamstring injury is 'gonna be fine'

Jahmyr Gibbs' hamstring injury, while needing to be treated cautiously, isn't the disaster some might have feared.

At least, that's the message delivered by Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who delivered a sunny outlook on Gibbs on Wednesday.

"I think we're gonna be fine here," Campbell said, per ESPN’s Eric Woodyard. "So, I think we'll be good."

Whether it's posturing or legitimate, Campbell was intentionally vague on the matter for a likely reason: Hamstring injuries can be fickle -- and nagging. For a player like Gibbs, who factors into all areas of Detroit's offense (and racked up over 1,300 scrimmage yards last season), patience will be needed, even if Campbell made it sound as if Gibbs avoided serious injury.

Gibbs sustained the hamstring ailment in practice this week. We'll see how long he needs to rest and receive treatment before Campbell's squad calls on him to return. Luckily, the regular season is still a few weeks away.
