Lions' Nick Fairley found not guilty of DUI in Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. -- Defensive tackle Nick Fairley has been found not guilty of drunk driving in his south Alabama hometown.

Mobile County Circuit Court documents say 27-year-old Fairley was found not guilty of DUI Friday afternoon. Fairley, of Mobile, Alabama, played as a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions from 2011 to 2014. He will become a free agent in March.

Fairley was found guilty of reckless driving and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus court costs. His trial began Wednesday and the jury reached a verdict roughly three hours after deliberations began.

In August, Fairley was ordered to serve a year on probation for DUI charges linked to a 2012 arrest. The judge in that case also ordered him to pay a $750 fine and court costs.
