Matthew Stafford will start at quarterback Sunday against the Denver Broncos, the Detroit Lionsannounced.
Stafford was listed as questionable on the Lions' injury report Friday, but Stafford appeared in line to play after practicing with the first-team offense for a second straight day.
Safford injured his ankle late during the Lions' Week 7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley (foot) is inactive, as is safety Chris Harris. The Lions claimed Harris off waivers this week after he was released by the Chicago Bears.
Running back Maurice Morris will start for the Lions.
The Broncos will be without leading rusher Willis McGahee after he had surgery Tuesday to fix a broken finger on his right hand. Denver is down to two healthy backs in Knowshon Moreno and Lance Ball.
Pass rusher Elvis Dumervil is scheduled to play despite missing most of the week with an ankle injury.
