Keep your eye on ...
Jim Zorn's play calling: Washington's head coach has come under fire for his play calling. The team has scored only one offensive touchdown this season and was booed off the home field after a win in Week 2. Under Zorn, the Redskins have averaged only 16 points over 18 games, and he will be feeling the pressure to produce against Detroit's league-worst scoring defense.
Matthew Stafford's ball security: The No. 1 overall pick in last April's draft has not gotten off to a good start. He is the lowest-rated starting quarterback in the league and has thrown the most interceptions in the NFL (five). His task will get no easier this week against a Redskins defense that ranks 10th against the pass.
Larry Foote's impact: Though the Lions lost their first two games and were overmatched defensively at times, the former Steelers linebacker has made a difference. Foote has 19 tackles and a sack in two games and will be in attack mode again vs. a banged up Redskins offensive line that found out Monday that G Randy Thomas is out for the season with a torn triceps.
