New Orleans Saints running Mark Ingram told NFL AM last week that he hoped to return from his fractured thumb in time to face the Detroit Lions.
After ramping up to a full practice on Wednesday, Ingram has no plans to be eased back into action versus the NFL's top-ranked defense on Sunday.
"I'm ready to go full go, 100 percent, full tilt," Ingram said Wednesday, via The Times-Picayune. "I've been getting all the reps in practice. They haven't babied me or eased me into practice, so I've been doing everything, catching, running, blocking, everything."
Giving the Lions no hints about his backfield strategy, coach Sean Payton was noncommittal about Ingram's Week 7 role.
Prior to the injury, Ingram was leading all NFL starters with 6.0 yards per carry. As long as he makes it through the week without a setback, he should return to the lead-back role with Khiry Robinson as change-of-pace and Pierre Thomas as the passing-down specialist.
