The Jets, once again, couldn't run the ball during a 23-17 loss to the Houston Texans. Shonn Greene, who has averaged a career-low 2.9 yards per carry, ran for 26 yards on eight carries. The Jets feature the No. 25 run offense in the NFL.
The Star-Ledger reported that Greene declined to talk to the media after the game. "I'm not talking to anybody," he said.
The Jets had 69 rushing yards on 23 carries and have been held to fewer than 75 yards in consecutive games.
The subpar play of quarterback Mark Sanchez gets most of the attention, but the organization hasn't done him any favors. He has no playmakers at receiver and no run game to share the load. Sanchez has not played well by any stretch of the imagination, but he's been at his best in the past as a complement to the run game -- not as the focal point of the offense.
Let's call it troublesome when the backup quarterback provides the best chance to improve the run game -- which is supposed to be your calling card.
