Romeo Crennel has a steadily blooming quarterback quandary on his hands.
The Kansas City Chiefs coach told reporters that Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn "got an equal number of reps" in Wednesday's practice.
Crennel previously said Cassel would return to the starting role after he was cleared from the concussion he suffered in Week 5. So why are the quarterbacks splitting time?
"Because (Cassel's) just getting back and he's not back all the way yet, in my mind," Crennel said. "I know he's been cleared, but he missed some time, so give them equal reps."
Crennel refused to name his starter, saying: "I don't have to say it. What happened this week is they are getting equal reps."
Crennel has the opportunity to keep this mystery active during the team's bye week. The Chiefs don't play again until Oct. 28 against the Oakland Raiders.
