Matthew Stafford broke blood vessel in hand against Raiders

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered an injury to his non-throwing hand during the second quarter of Saturday's preseason matchup against the Oakland Raiders.

Stafford broke a blood vessel in his left hand, Adam Schefter reported Monday. However, he is still expected to play Week 1 against the St. Louis Rams.

Stafford suffered the injury when he was hit by Raiders defensive end Dave Tollefson on an incomplete pass. Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official website noted that Stafford appeared to hit his hand against a helmet.

Stafford was 8-of-10 passing for 68 yards before exiting the game.

UPDATE: Stafford practiced Monday without a bandage on his left hand, Twentyman reported.
