Tumbling into the darkness of their first four-game losing streak since 2008, the flailing Green Bay Packers know their season rests on the brink.
"Six losses puts your ass against the wall," coach Mike McCarthy said after Sunday night's 42-24 loss to the Redskins, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Disappointing. Reality is we are 4-6. We understand clearly what is in front of us."
With zero pass rush in front of them, Green Bay's seemingly invisible secondary could do nothing to stop Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins from dropping long-range dimes into the waiting arms of wideouts Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder to set the table for a 20-point fourth-quarter explosion.
Consider this: The spiraling Packers have allowed a whopping 153 points over their last four games. Seattle, meanwhile, has allowed 173 points all year.
Facing the heaviest criticism of his otherwise glowing career in Green Bay, McCarthy made it clear his team wouldn't throw in the towel, saying: "This is no time for personnel evaluation or coaching evaluation. This is our football team, the 2016 Green Bay Packers. We are going to rally and stick together."
