Merril Hoge says football is unfairly targeted for head injury news

Wednesday's health and safety news from the world of football:

  • Former NFL running back Merril Hoge said Tuesday during a speaking engagement at the University of Charleston (W.Va.) that football is targeted for brain injuries, according to the Charleston Daily Mail, despite the frequency of head injuries in other sports.
  • USA Football reported on a Tulane University group that is researching the best ways to deliver concussion education, talking to the school's Dr. Gregory W. Stewart.
  • IMG Academy published a press release that announced its NFL Combine/Draft Training program will work with more than two dozen NFL prospects.
