With Knowshon Moreno out after dislocating his elbow, the Miami Dolphins are reportedly bringing back Daniel Thomas.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports the Dolphins re-signed Thomas on Monday morning, according to a source informed of the move. The Miami Herald first reported the news.
The running back was released during final cuts after another uninspiring offseason in which he missed three preseason games due to injury.
The former second-round draft pick has averaged 3.6 yards per carry in three seasons in Miami. Thomas doesn't create space, break tackles or display speed in space.
Moreno is expected to miss roughly a month after dislocating his elbow in Sunday's 29-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported. It's a tough blow for Miami after Moreno displayed a tough running style the Dolphins have lacked for years.
Thomas will slip back into his "big-back" role behind Lamar Miller -- who sustained an ankle injury Sunday. Miller, if healthy, should see the bulk of the carries moving forward.
