Miami Dolphins' Mike Wallace: 'I'm a great player'

The relationship between Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill and wide receiver Mike Wallace took about 10 weeks to evolve into something resembling a consistent dangerous combination.

"This is the time when you've got to be the best you can be," Wallace said Sunday after his second consecutive big game, per The Miami Herald. "It's December. I've had enough time to get adjusted. It's the time for me to be the player I know I am, no matter (what). Just block out everything and play football."

Lest you think Wallace lost any confidence after his slow start with the Dolphins, the highly paid receiver dropped this line on us:

"I'm a great player, I know that. It's all that really matters. ... Let's call a spade a spade," he said.

Wallace has put up back-to-back weeks with 80-plus receiving yards for the first time since signing with the Dolphins. Over the past two weeks, he has 12 catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

With Sunday's 23-3 win, the Dolphins sit on the cusp of a playoff berth after looking sunk in Week 10, when they lost to the then-winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers amid the thick of the Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin controversy.

If the Dolphins are going to have any chance of busting into the playoffs, they will need Wallace to continue to play with the swagger he's shown the past two weeks.
