During his first week working out with the Oakland Raiders, Michael Crabtree admitted Thursday it "feels a little funny" to be playing for the team across The Bay.
The former San Francisco 49ers receiver is appreciative of the chance to show that his dismal past two seasons -- 982 combined yards -- were an aberration and a product of injuries.
"I have a lot to prove," Crabtree said, per the San Francisco Chronicle. "A lot to prove. Ain't got nothing to lose and have a lot to prove."
Crabtree displayed a lack of explosion last season, struggling to get separation from defensive backs. He also struggled chemistry-wise with quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Coupling those problems with the perception that he's a malcontent in the locker room -- which Crabtree dismissed as "just talk" Thursday -- led to a bare free-agent market that saw him earn just a one-year prove-it contract in Oakland.
At this point, Crabtree is just glad to be wanted.
"I'm here," Crabtree said. "Guys want me and need me. I talked to the coach. He wants me and needs me. I feel comfortable. I can't wait to go play."
If he's able to prove he can still be the dynamic playmaker we saw in 2012 -- 1,105 yards, nine touchdowns -- the Raiders will have found a true free-agent bargain and Crabtree will be in for a bigger pay day next off season.
