NFL Media analyst and former Seahawks captain Michael Robinson has a strong feeling about one of Seattle's assistant coaches rising to a head job some time in the near future, and it's not one of the two obvious names that are often circulated.
On NFL GameDay First, Robinson said Seattle offensive line coach and assistant head coach Tom Cable "will be a head coach in this league."
He added: "And guys that I've talked to on that team they said if they were free agents, they'd play for that guy."
Cable had an opportunity in Oakland, a tenure that was marked with some serious personal accusations and an overall 17-27 record, but appears to be climbing the ladder again.
The Lions did some background work on Cable last year during their head coaching search, for example.
It's an interesting name added to the mix in what could be a very eventful offseason for Seahawks assistants, especially if he can attract some high-profile members of that 2013 Super Bowl team in free agency.
