For big-name free agents at this stage of the summer, the Twitter video clip of their independent workout session can give off a desperate vibe that makes us all a little uncomfortable.
But when Michael Vick took to social media on Thursday, he wasn't really over-exerting himself. He wasn't leaping over 19 tires or hurling the ball out of a high school football stadium.
He was simply executing a crisp, three-quarters speed play-action fake. Take a look for yourself:
To me, this says to teams: 'I'm ready, but then again, I've always been ready. Don't you see how natural this is for me?'
Vick summed it up nicely himself.
"Stay fresh stay focused stay #READY... #v7."
NFL Media's Rand Getlin says there is likely room for Vick in the league. Getlin reported Thursday, "There is a tremendous amount of confidence in his camp that he will be on an active roster come opening day."
In a league so desperately deprived of talented quarterbacks, it's puzzling to see Vick still on the sidelines. His tenure with the Jets was a bit of a disaster, but is he any worse than the average team's third-string quarterback?
Not too long ago, he was the same player who bandaged a team on the verge of a complete disaster. For the general manager of a young team that could use a veteran voice, what's there to lose?
