Impending free agent Michael Vick acknowledged last week that his New York Jets future is up in the air after two starts as Geno Smith's replacement.
Whether or not Vick returns, it's clear the 34-year-old wants to continue his NFL career in 2015 and beyond.
"I would love to play again, at least get it out of my system for two more years," Vick said, via NFL Media's Kimberly Jones. "Because I know I got it in me."
With the futures of coach Rex Ryan, offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and general manager John Idzik also uncertain, Vick has no idea where he might play next season.
"I don't know. I'm just taking it one game at a time," Vick explained. "It's funny because you get used to being in a certain place, and sometimes you have to leave."
Vick did go a step further in embracing his current organization this week, adding, "I don't mind the Jets green."
Unless the Jets reel off an improbable winning streak fueled by a revitalized Vick, there will almost certainly be a regime change in January. It will be up to the next coach to decide if he wants to keep Vick as a "bridge" to the next quarterback of the future.
