Mid-week MAC games offer chance for prospects to shine

Tis the season to be a football fan. Starting with last Thursday's matchup between Louisville and Florida State, there's an NFL or college football game on every single day of the week until November 26.

The reason for that is largely because of the mid-week MAC games on Tuesday and Wednesday, affectionately known as MACtion games due to their unpredictable and often high-scoring nature. While some fans might not be as familiar with the likes of Bowling Green, Toledo, Ohio and others, NFL scouts have known those schools to be the source of some quality NFL talent the past few years.

Just two years ago, Kansas City selected Central Michigan's Eric Fisher with the No. 1 overall pick, and it was just six short months ago that Oakland drafted linebacker Khalil Mack out of Buffalo with the No. 5 overall pick. While the 2015 NFL Draft likely won't have somebody from the MAC go that high, there are a number of quality prospects who will end up playing in the league next season.

With that in mind, here are a few players to keep an eye out for the next few weeks as MAC football fills your Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. As always, the national TV spotlight could mean a surprise or two emerges for NFL scouts to go back and do their homework on, too.

DT Antwan Crutcher, Ohio

S Dechane Durante, Northern Illinois

WR Titus Davis, Central Michigan

RB Jahwan Edwards, Ball State

LB D.J. Lynch, Bowling Green

OL Greg Mancz, Toledo

TE Tyreese Russell, Eastern Michigan

LB Junior Sylvestre, Toledo
