In his mock draft, Mayock has Smith headed to the Cleveland Browns. Mayock, however, admitted on NFL Network's show to reveal his mock draft (airing Wednesday night) that he had "no idea" what the Browns will do.
Mayock credited Browns CEO Joe Banner and GM Michael Lombardi for a great job preventing leaks coming out of Cleveland. Mayock says no one in the league knows what the Browns will do. In his final evaluation, Mayock thought that Banner would be the one pulling the trigger to bring a new signal caller to the team.
"One of the keys to me is their offensive coordinator Norv Turner," Mayock said.
New coach Rob Chudzinski and Lombardi have talked up Brandon Weeden since arriving in town, but the second-year pro isn't promised anything. If Mayock is right and Smith arrives, Weeden will be promised a spot on the bench before long.
