Mike Wallace was a solid starting wide receiver that was paid like a superstar during his first season in Miami. During his second offseason, we've predictably heard the team claiming they will use him more effectively in 2014.
We've read stories about Wallace moving around the team's formations, and possibly lining up in the backfield. But we haven't heard about him possibly returning kicks until now.
"I might get back there for kickoff returns," Wallace told Neil Reynolds for an interview that will air on Sky Sports in the UK. "I just want to be on the field making an impact for my team. I've always wanted to return kicks ever since I've been in the NFL."
Wanting to return kicks doesn't mean that Wallace will be returning kicks, as Wallace learned when he was a Steeler. He returned some kicks in the preseason in Pittsburgh, but was never allowed to during the regular season. There has been no indication the Dolphins will use Wallace on returns.
"At this point of my career, I just want to get the ball in my hands and make some plays," Wallace said.
