It's not easy being Mr. Irrelevant.
Chandler Harnish, the former Northern Illinois quarterback who earned fame in April when he became the final pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, has been waived by the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts also waived outside linebacker Jerry Brown and released tight end Dominique Jones from the practice squad. The team signed tight end Weslye Saunders.

Harnish was inactive for all five regular-season games this season. Harnish had a prominent role in practice last week, putting on a red No. 15 jersey and impersonating Tim Tebow as the Colts prepared for the New York Jets.
If Harnish has aspirations of playing in the NFL, this isn't the worst news in the world. Andrew Luck is obviously entrenched in Indy, and we suspect that could be the case for another 15 years or so.
We got the opportunity to meet with Harnish when he visited NFL Network in July, and he had a good attitude about his life as Mr. Irrelevant.
"I've never thought of Mr. Irrelevant as being a negative connotation by any means," Harnish said in the midst of his "Irrelevant Week" celebration in Newport Beach. "I know there's a lot of guys out there who would have loved to get drafted. To be one of the 253 is something I take with a lot of pride."
Harnish could be moved to the Colts' practice squad if he clears waivers. Let's hope the underdog lands on his feet.
UPDATE: The Colts indeed plan to bring back Harnish if he clears waivers, interim coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday.
