One week after losing Kendall Wright and Akeem Ayers to injuries, the Tennessee Titans saw wide receiver Nate Washington and running back Shonn Greene go down Saturday night.
Washington was leading the team with 70 yards and one touchdown on four receptions before he sustained the injury, which the Titans announced early in the third quarter. Green was held to 17 yards on five carries before his exit.
Washington and Greene later were seen walking on the sideline, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reported, and Titans coach Mike Munchak said after the 27-16 preseason victory over the Atlanta Falcons that the players' injuries were "minor."
Afterward, Washington said it was his foot that got hurt, and he didn't expect to miss time, Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com reported. Greene also was optimistic, saying he had just a bit of ankle soreness and didn't expect to miss practice, according to The Tennessean's John Glennon.
Interviewed during the game's broadcast, Wright said he's aiming for a Week 1 return versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ayers similarly told Titans Radio that he expects to be ready for the start of the season. The Titans will hope to have Washington and Greene healthy by then as well.
