The New York Giants signed defensive end Israel Idonije on Monday.
The 33-year-old is a depth signing for the Giants' defensive line and would have to prove that he still has some juice left in the tank to make the final 53-man roster. At this stage of Idonije's career, that's not a sure bet.
The 10-year veteran was released by the Chicago Bears this June just three months after re-signing with the franchise of which he played his first nine seasons for.
Idonije played 15 games for the Lions last year in a backup role before finishing the season on injured reserve with a neck injury.
Making the Giants' squad could be Idonije's last crack at the NFL. If football doesn't work out, he already has a plan for the second act of his career -- self-publishing his own comic books.
