The activities are designed to help local children stay healthy and active as part of NFL PLAY 60, the league's campaign to fight childhood obesity, and to show support for our nation's military, with events occurring at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona, and the Arizona National Guard Armory in Phoenix.
During Blitz activities, NFL players will have the opportunity to work as "Airman for a Day" before hosting video-chat sessions for deployed airmen and their families at Luke Air Force Base. A NFL PLAY 60 youth fitness challenge and cheerleader clinic will take place at Luke Elementary School, adjacent to the base.
At the Arizona National Guard Armory, Pro Bowl players will work alongside National Guard, United Way and USAA volunteers to build a fitness trail that the Guardsmen will use to stay service-fit, while 150 students take part in a NFL PLAY 60 fitness clinic.
Additionally, the NFL will host a Punt, Pass & Kick event led by Pro Bowl captains with athletes from the Special Olympics Arizona at Trevor Browne High School in Phoenix.
The Airman for a Day and Fitness Trail Community Build are made possible by USAA, the Official Military Appreciation Sponsor of the NFL. For the fourth consecutive year, the NFL will also host an on-base Pro Bowl practice presented by USAA. This year's practice will take place on Jan. 22 at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale and is open to military and their families.
Other community events taking place during the week include a tree planting event at Sahuaro Ranch and a Super Kids Super Sharing collection event at Salvation Army South Mountain Kroc Center.
Kids from the Ak-Chin, Scottsdale and Gila River communities, local Heads Up Football teams, and children from Make-A-Wish and the Boys and Girls Club will attend a Pro Bowl practice on Jan. 23.
Make-A-Wish and Heads Up Football groups will also be in attendance at the 2015 Pro Bowl presented by McDonald's on Jan. 25. The 2015 Pro Bowl will be televised live at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN from the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. Participants in the NFL FLAG Championships at Super Bowl will be honored on field prior to the game.
