NFL OKs Broncos request to wear orange uniforms again

The Orange Crush is on the way back to Denver.

The NFL has approved the Broncos' request to change their home jersey from dark blue to burnt orange starting next season.

"This is what our fans wanted," Broncos president Joe Ellis told the Denver Post on Monday. "And we're going to accommodate their wishes starting with 2012."

Since going to the dark blue jerseys in 1997, the Broncos have worn the burnt orange occasionally as an "alternative" home jersey, including in this season's home opener against the Oakland Raiders.

Beginning next year, the Broncos will wear the orange for eight or nine of their 10 home games, including preseason. The dark blue jersey will become the new alternative home colors, and will be worn for one or two home games.
