'NFL Total Access' recap: Can Rob Ryan fix the Saints' D?

Did you miss Friday's edition of "NFL Total Access" on NFL Network? Catch up with this recap:

Can Ryan succeed in New Orleans?

Heath Evans said he likes the way Rob Ryan will fit with the New Orleans Saints because he believes coach Sean Payton gets the best out of his coaches and his players.

Brian Baldinger added that he thinks Ryan could be a good fit, if he doesn't try to do too much so they don't end up beating themselves.

Potential difference makers

Baldinger and Evans debated which old face in a new place will make the bigger impact.

Darrelle Revis versus Ed Reed: Baldinger chose Revis while Evans went with Reed.

Steven Jackson versus Reggie Bush: Evans chose Steven while Baldinger picked Bush.

Anquan Boldin versus Percy Harvin: Baldinger decided on Boldin while Evans went with Harvin.

Carson Palmer versus Alex Smith: Evans chose Palmer while Baldinger decided on Smith.

Looking ahead

Coming off NFL Film's 2012 season in six minutes, Baldinger and Evans made some predictions for 2013. Baldy said the Indianapolis Colts' Andrew Luck will separate himself from the other young quarterbacks in 2013 and the Cincinnati Bengals will win the AFC North.

Evans said Brian Cushing will win Comeback Player of the Year and Rex Ryan will do his best coaching job yet. He added that he feels Ryan has been thrown under the bus by his own front office.

Baldinger and Evans also tackled the debate about which of the four pass rushers who fell in the top players list will bounce back this season: Jared Allen, Terrell Suggs, Julius Peppers or Jason Pierre-Paul.

Evans went with Jared Allen, and Baldinger chose Jason Pierre-Paul.

Ray climbs a mountain

Baldinger finished the show by offering former Baltimore Raven Ray Lewis some advice for his upcoming climb of Mount Kilimanjaro. He told Lewis to bring the warmest sleeping bag possible and pack altitude sickness pills.
