Eagles' signal-caller derby
Willie McGinest said Michael Vick is not the clear front-runner to win the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback job, noting that multiple players on the Eagles have said that Nick Foles has looked good so far. McGinest did admit that Vick probably has a slight edge at the moment, though. Warren Sapp feels that natural competition (competition that isn't manufactured) is good for any team. Sapp said he'd be very surprised if Foles is the starter Week 1.
QBs under pressure
Sapp said that quarterbacks are judged on wins and championships and that Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schuab doesn't have any. However, Sapp chose the Miami Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill as the quarterback under the most pressure. Sapp also said Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is under a lot of pressure due to the numerous home playoff losses.
Fitzgerald talks disappointing 2012
When asked about the frustration of his least productive and most frustrating season since his rookie year, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald replied that it has fueled his offseason and prepared him for a great year. Fitzgerald said he had been lucky to learn from Kurt Warner over the years. Fitzgerald believes Carson Palmer will be the man to lead the Cardinals to a more productive season, noting that Palmer picks stuff up quickly and has great passion and leadership.
Rookies primed for breakout seasons
McGinest went with St. Louis Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin, who will be an impact option for Sam Bradford but will contribute on special teams as well. McGinest also selected Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert who will be a versatile option for Dalton. Sapp went with running backs Le'Veon Bell and Eddie Lacy of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers, respectively.
Sophomores poised for big years
Sapp called out Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson to overcome his injury history and have a breakout season. McGinest chose Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne.
Rice advises Sapp on Hall of Fame day
Jerry Rice congratulated Sapp, who will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August. Rice explained that Sapp must be respectful and quiet during the activities, in the same way that Rice and every other selectee had to when they was enshrined. With respect to the 2013 season, Rice believes Colin Kaepernick will still perform at a high level but will definitely feel the loss of Michael Crabtree. Rice said that the Seattle Seahawks are dangerous after adding Percy Harvin but Rice is still picking the San Francisco 49ers to win the NFC West.
