Niners bringing in Jackson to interview for coaching job

Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Hue Jackson will interview Wednesday for the San Francisco 49ers' head-coaching job, according to a team source.

Jackson's interview would put the 49ers in compliance with the Rooney Rule, which requires teams to interview a minority candidate before appointing a head coach. Jackson, who guided the Raiders' young offense to a dramatic improvement, also is under consideration to replace Tom Cable in Oakland.

The Raiders announced Tuesday night they wouldn't pick up the option on Cable's contract.

The 49ers, who promoted Trent Baalke to general manager Tuesday night, also have made a concerted pitch to land Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, who is on the radar of the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos, too.
