DENVER -- On the day before the Broncos will play the Steelers in an AFC Wild Card Game, backup quarterback Brady Quinn remained in the same role he has all season: Watching mostly from the sideline, wondering if and when his chance will come.
Quinn didn't take any repetitions at quarterback with the first-team offense during Saturday's walk-through, he said, concluding a week that has been almost entirely the same as every other week.
In the wake of a ProFootballTalk.com report that Denver is prepared to pull starting quarterback Tim Tebow if he struggles, Quinn isn't likely to be in an ideal spot since he hasn't received extra work this week. But his perspective on the situation mirrors the same perspective he has learned in five strange seasons in the NFL.
"We can't choose the opportunities we get in life," Quinn said Saturday.
Quinn, who replaced Tebow as the quarterback in practice less than 10 times this week (twice on Friday), said the team did not implement into the game plan any full package of multiple plays designed to put Tebow on the sideline.
So if Tebow should struggle badly enough for the coaching staff to make a move, Quinn will be in a tough but welcomed situation: He'll be given his chance to lead his team to a playoff win.
